Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I register?

As a descendant through your whakapapa you are entitled to become a beneficiary of this Settlement!

Our Settlement will enable a better future for our whānau and more importantly for our future generations – our tamariki and mokopuna. Like our ancestors did for us, we are trying to leave what we have in a better place for our future generations.

How will I benefit from the settlement?

The Settlement acknowledges that our land was taken, so we can move forward to regain our mana over our land, our reo, and improve our opportunities for education, health and well-being.

Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa is currently working through planning for how the Settlement is used and managed. Under the new representation (Unit Trust) model, each of the seven Kāhui own a one-seventh share in Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa, and will receive annual distributions from income generated.

This is an opportunity for our Kāhui to look at how we can progress and keep you updated of future beneficial opportunities.

What if I live overseas?

This Settlement is for everyone with whakapapa to our iwi, hapū, and marae. It does not matter if you live at home or overseas, you can still register.

How can I stay updated on what's happening?

Keep an eye out for our regular Pānui on our website.

We are committed to communicating with all our whānau. We will try to come back to you as soon as we can to answer any questions.
